12662 is a personal exploration of the life of my Grandad, contrasting elements of his working life as a Garda with his home-life as a farmer. Silhouette derives from his utilitarian and durable 1970s Garda overcoat while colour, fabric and surface textures are inspired by the organic homemade structures of the farm. The collection moves away from the mayhem of fast fashion by offering considered long-lasting designs to bring order to contemporary fashion. Just as Garda order and control juxtaposes the organised chaos of nature on the farm.
