Gabrielle Malone
for Biddy

This womenswear collection is based on fisherman’s workwear and their equipment. Initial research was based on my grandad’s waders and coats; all streamlined and minimal in silhouette with technical details.

With family in Arranmore I go back often and found myself drawn to the ship graveyard. Located on a beach where old boats, nets and pots are abandoned. Lobster pots, traditionally made with a needle and yarn, are referenced through knitting and fagoting.

The hand embroidered collection title came from old family photos with revealing sentiments and notes recorded on the reverse, one read “for Biddie” a beloved great aunt.
