Distortion

My work focuses on the uncomfortable position of being caught between, and consequently, being dragged into conflict. Comparing the communication in my college course to the communication during my parents’ divorce, my work focuses on being involved in conflict as a messenger or a gateway between two figures, my mother and father.
Through blown glass and illustrations, I attempt to capture the feeling of being trapped in this situation, and attempt to display an impression of being pulled or stretched between two points and the tension it creates. I have done this through the texture and form of the glass, and also the colours used to represent the conflict, using colours to symbolise anger or frustration.
