Accepting Distance

My work deals with the acceptance of distance. I am interested in perceptions of time and presence through media. I explore this topic through the use of film stills from personal film fragments of rural Ireland in the 70s and 80s. The way the mind can fabricate reality and form connections to something it is so distant from intrigues me. The aura of loss is something I think can be universally communicated through the visual physicalities of film, and through the painting of these film stills I process and accept this sense of dislocation and distance.
