Na Bogáin'

My work explores abandoned and dilapidated dwellings in rural Ireland, particularly those in my locality, in rural Galway. I am interested in their beauty, and the personal and public connections that they have with memory. Many of these dwellings relate to the subject matter of social migration, where people have flocked to urban centres and have forgotten their history in rural Ireland. My research and work is formed by excavation and investigation through the use of photography and screen print. I also look for left over remnants of people’s belongings and past lives in these dwellings.
