The work investigates the pregnant female form under a theme of identity, sexuality and autonomy. Aiming to challenge representations and perceptions of the pregnancy contemporary context. I create figurative representations that entice the viewer to engage with the work and question their own gaze. Similar to Olympia by Manet, what shocked the paintings' audiences was not Olympia's nudity, but her confrontational gaze. The work includes a variety of small and large scale pieces consisting of monochromatic paintings drawings and Vernacular photography. I portray real women who control access to their sexual bodies rather than being passive objects for the viewers gaze.
