Sarah FitzGibbon
Integrated Theatre Practice of Artists with Intellectual Disabilities

For over two decades, I have been working in participatory theatre practice and as an educational drama facilitator, engaging with people from a variety of contexts and backgrounds. Negotiating that expression has been rich territory for me. Through the MA, I have developed new modalities within the field of socially engaged practice with a focus on Arts and Disability, recently working with two diverse schools on a collaborative storytelling project. My current research explores the practices of theatre companies of artists with intellectual disabilities, with particular focus on the position of facilitating artists without an intellectual disability working in this area.
