A Tale of Two Tea Houses

A tale of two teahouses is an exploration of the similarities and differences between Irish and Japanese tea drinking cultures. The work examines two matrons who embody these cultures. Using adapted traditional techniques, costumes are created to reflect the traditions and tea making practices as well as traditional and contemporary fashion. The work observes the similarities that unite us through tea. I am have also explored how tea is so much more than a beverage; it is a facilitation for ceremony and conversation.
