Roisin Kane
Dancing Divas

This work explores feminism, body image and the pressures women in today’s society feel to look and act. These figures rebel against the restrictions of size and the conformity to outdated modes of behaviour. They are abstract, playful suggestions of a female form. Colour plays an important role in these pieces. Bright, vivid colours dance around these funky, curvaceous figures. These pieces reference the work of the French-American sculptor, Niki de Saint Phalle, who creates gigantic, interactive bold coloured female figures.
