Gwaukie's work explores trends in contemporary society by using obsolete formats and hardware such as amplifiers, cassette tapes, CRT TVs, and iPods. Using this equipment he seeks to question contemporary society’s pursuit of constant upgrade and innovation. The last thirty years of societal progression in the western world is of particular interest to the artist.
