Gendered Spaces within Beauty Places

The work executed through the medium of paint, explores the subliminal world of gendered spaces through the lens of both male and female beauty. The viewer is invited to enter the imagined and constructed spaces of the barbershop and beauty salon, while considering the permeable boundary between the inside and the outside. The paintings explore gender and the norms of beauty within society.
Constructed from photography, found imagery and collage the work is executed in oils and acrylic on board and canvas.
