My work explores codes of behaviour, particularly modesty, asking how such social norms influence female identity and the relationship we have with female bodies. In multiple works using embroidery and related mediums — which carry a significance to female identity and art history — I test ways in which I can keep the female nude modest and leave the rest ‘up to the imagination’. By not entirely rendering the flesh in these works, keeping them ‘unfinished’, the female nude remains unexposed.
