Lorraine O'Rourke
Identifying Identity in the Individual

“Art leads us on a search, within the world, within the work, within ourselves”- Lesley Frenz, 2018.

Lorraine O’Rourke is a visual artist based in Dublin who investigates ‘the self’ through the mediums of screen-print and photography. Her practice deals with autobiographical concerns, which draw on personal memories and experiences of living with mental illness. By focusing on the construction and deconstruction of her own identity, her images allude to the search and struggle for personal identity in today’s society and the effect this can have on an individual’s mental health.
