Emily Johnston’s oeuvre is comprised of a harmonious object collection which inform her consideration in the production of intense intentions planted in space; in which she re-configures a cartography of memory. In collecting artefacts, a table of contents is referenced. It reveals recurring elaborate patterns emerging in her everyday life. Johnston removes the customary behaviours of invisible support structures, activating them in a novel way, adding a new dimension to their capabilities as objects. Johnston rearranges not only found objects but, found imagery and linguistic material in a cut paste manner, attempting to delineate shared moments with her external environs.
