‘Sgéal agam díbh’
Pat Donnelly’s work explores the narratives both past and present contained within the landscape of Tallaght, Co. Dublin. Donnelly draws on the physical, social and cultural histories of the area in order to uncover its hidden narratives and relationships. She presents the work as an archival resource using video, audio, books and installation.
The seanchaí (storyteller) persona as the safeguarder of narrative is at the centre of her work. Donnelly’s installation variously references the techniques of the library, of museum displays of natural history and of the Wünderkammer. However, unlike such displays, her installation invites interaction.
